Candle Care Guide

Wick Trimming

Always trim your wick to ¼ inch before each burn. This helps prevent soot, mushrooming, and uneven burning. Use a wick trimmer or scissors for a clean cut.

First Burn Tips

The first burn is the most important! Allow your candle to burn long enough for the entire top layer of wax to melt to the edges of the jar — this prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn throughout the life of your candle. This typically takes 2–4 hours depending on the size.

Safety Guidelines

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep away from drafts, vents, and air currents.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Never burn on or near flammable materials.
  • Stop burning when ½ inch of wax remains.

Burn Time Guide

For best results, burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. Burning longer can cause the wick to move or slant, and may cause the jar to overheat.

Storage Tips

Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the lid on when not in use to protect the scent and prevent dust from settling on the wax.

Troubleshooting

  • Tunneling: Caused by not allowing a full melt pool on the first burn. Try using a candle warmer to even out the wax.
  • Sooting/Black Smoke: Trim your wick! A wick that's too long is the most common cause of soot.
  • Uneven Burn: Make sure your candle is on a flat, level surface and away from drafts.
  • Weak Scent Throw: Burn in a smaller space or check that the room isn't too drafty. Allow the candle to reach a full melt pool for the best scent.
